Sometimes, anxiety can hit you right between the eyes– and it can range from an elevated heart rate to full-on panic. At one time or another, it happens to most of us, and when it does, it helps to remember a few key concepts:
- Have some anti-anxiety tools in your toolbox so if panic strikes, you have the tools to calm yourself down. Be proactive.
- A good therapist is worth his/her weight in gold– seriously, call and make the appointment. We all need a little help now and then.
- Practicing yoga and meditating on a regular basis is like saving a few dollars each day. By the end of the month, you have a nice little financial nest egg. The same is true of yoga. Each time you practice, you build up a reserve of energy, and when you need it, just like a financial reserve, it is there.
- Be as gentle and kind to yourself as you would to someone you love. Take extra good care of yourself– get outside and breathe some fresh air, go for a walk, eat something nutritious. You don’t have to spend a lot of time or money– sometimes a little shift in your physical space can make a big shift in your mental space.
